The exact same thing happened to Carrie's old laptop right before the warranty was up...so we made sure to get that fixed before it ended. FYI, at least with Dell, if it's still not fixed when it comes back, they'll still fix it after the warranty is up because the initial call for the problem was still within the proper time period. And man, I can't agree with you more about hard drives..."they just don'e build them like they used to." I've had so much bad luck with hard drives over the years it's ridiculous. I think I had at least 3 die on me while at U of I and I had one die a couple months ago here. Speaking of that, I'd better check on that one if I can RMA it...luckily I've been able to do that for all (but maybe one?) of them that's broken. My goodness, you are in a spot of bad luck!
